Canterbury
The Westgate is the last remaining gateway in Canterbury. The grade I listed gate was built as a fortification against the French during the Hundred Years' War, and was used as a prison until 1829.
AnotherCup was engaged to provide full consultancy for the historic Canterbury City Gaol Cafe. Working with the client's architects, we converted what was once the prisoners' washroom to a full working kitchen. The cafe seating space - which was once the prisoners' exercise yard - now provides a fantastic indoor & riverside seating space. Operationally, we created the food and drink menus, sourced light and heavy equipment and conducted full barista training.
City Gaol Cafe opened in late July 2011, and we provided operational support for a period of two weeks before and after opening.
